The Nativity Story

Wow! We saw this as a family tonight and all agreed it was amazing. There's nothing like it!! I saw the birth of our Saviour in a brand new light - incredible... You can check out the movie here: The Nativity Story. What did YOU think?

Merry Christmas, everyone!!! I am so grateful for you all!

Oh, and a little trivia: If you received all the gifts in 'The Twelve Days of Christmas', how many gifts would that be? :)

If y'all know David, this is hilarious. If you don't...he's Charissa Galbraith's brother and he did an 'interview' for their TV station in G'burg, MD.

Disney Day

Well, our Office Girls' Christmas Day at Disney has come and gone for 2006. We had a blast, but of course, we miss all those former 'Disney Day-ers'. *sniff*

We started out our morning with breakfast at Val's house this year. We made scones, chicken salad croissants, (homemade) hot chocolate, fresh fruit, the absolute-est most delicious quiches ever, muffins, etc. Then we all exchanged gifts. Here we are in front of Val's Christmas tree...can you find it? :)

There's a really scary one of me that happened right after this, but I'll save myself the mockery...so the next one is of us on Santa's sleigh... oh yeah, we ventured out to the Kingdom this year, too. I must say I very much missed the Candlelight Service ('they rejoiced with exceeding great joy...'), but I was overruled.

Only the brave ventured onto Space Mountain...I think I'm getting old, too. ; )

Kylene....or Buddy the Elf?

It was fun posing for all the pictures...all 8 of us. ; )

The pictures don't do the fireworks justice. They were incredible and got 'oohs' and 'ahhs' from even me! And we had front row seats - way to go, Val!

Sitting around the table... we're eating our yummy funnel cakes and hot chocolate! Mary ended up wearing hers on her sleeve!

She just couldn't resist...she's so cute!

Waiting for the monorail...8 minutes or 3?!?!

Yep, you got it! We got to ride up front on the monorail!!!! Adam, our driver, let four of us ride with him. Stats (thanks to Ky! ; ): max speed is 40 mph, can't come within .5 mile of monorail in front of him, he toots great...the horn, that is! :), and it's NOT run magnetically but with electricity and tires! We all have Honorary Co-Pilot Licenses...well, Em, Ky, Lisa and I do. The Disney employees (Val and Mary) graciously rode in the car behind us. What fun!!!!!

And of course, there are always those characters to make you laugh at the end of a long day...like the Genie. Only...he looked slightly odd-er than the Genie in the parade:

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I think this was the first truly cold day in the season. But it was only in the 60s...gee, I love Florida!!!!! It was an incredible day, but WAY cold at night. Here are the three babes from 'da Hood:

What a wonderful day - building relationships with these incredible ladies who are also my co-workers, my sisters in Christ, my friends...it just doesn't get much better. :) Thanks, ladies, for a wonderful day!

P.S. there may be some more to come...maybe even some pics from past years!

Last few pictures of the retreat

So, here is Kathy entering a 'do not enter' zone. She insisted we go down the stairwell, even though there was a multitude of yellow tape across the doorway. I kept telling her there was wet paint but we decided to walk on it anyway. She didn't think it was the floor...until the next day we got on the elevator and saw a sign that let us know there was wet paint in the stairwell...

One of the greatest reminders of this weekend was how our Sovereign God knows where each and every wave is going to land on which part of all the beaches in the world...and He knows each step I plan to take and where they will lead me. He is guiding and directing me...I am so grateful!!!!

More Pics from the Beach Retreat

Here are some more pics:

No, it's not my first time at the beach...

Kathy, this is for you:

Val...trying the 'pensive' thing again...

I love being able to take pics like these!

Laffy Kathy...

The Great Giggler...

Why was this picture so fun? :)

Beach Retreat

Okay, so I'm a week late, but better late than never, right? I wanted to get some pics up of our weekend away - it was so wonderful! We spent time reading (though it was a little hard at times with three girls in one condo :), praying, relaxing and fellowshipping! What a blessing!

Val pensively studying Valley of Vision...upside down?
Kathy, reading...a rare moment when she was NOT laughing! :)

I don't do much seriously...seriously. ; )
I think we had a foot fetish going on...

Val's foot...random, I know!

Thank God for friends!

Man Blog

Oh, baby! I'm all for that! You know it! ; ) I don't know if y'all went here or not, but there are a few funny posts. Here's a good one: ManSpeak. And, no, I don't spend all day on it!

And, Meghann, guess you saw you can't check Solo Fem for my comments, huh? ; ) Should I start commenting on the Man Blog...just for you? LOL

G'night!

One dark and stormy night...

Or really it was prolly just a nice fall day...a Monday, of course...but what did I find when I walked past the Lost and Found (three years yonder, as well, I believe!!!) but a beautiful black leather coat. So after putting it on and doing some amazing moves that even Trinity herself would be envious of...I put it away hoping that no one would come to claim it (no deception though, see, cuz if they DID come to claim it...i'd give it back). Well, no one came which was good...except I didn't want to wear it out because someone might recognize it (like they did the time I borrowed sunglasses from the Lost and Found). So there it sat, in the back of a cabinet at my desk. It sat....and sat...and sat. Until I got tired of it and put it back out there....at least I THINK that's what happened. Did someone claim it? I don't remember! Was it Todd's wife? Maybe...

So, the moral of THIS story is...if you pull something from Lost and Found you better switch churches so you can use it! :) ...oh, and be careful with the very long tie that goes around the waist on borrowed black, leather jackets - they can hurt if you swing them around...which I didn't! I was just warning everyone out there...

; ) Love you, Andrea!

Boss' Day at Metro Life Church

Here are a few pictures of the Boss' Day we did a few years ago. Please note, all props were already on hand from past plays. We weren't THAT creative! :)

Disclaimer: don't try to cook food on a pretend campfire. Ha!

P.S. Oh yes! Thanks, Meghann! Cowboy Danny is drinking ROOT beer! Whew! I KNEW I forgot to mention something! :) Ha!

China's Little Lost Girls

So my mom and I watched a National Geographic from the library that Lisa Ling did on adopting from China. We both realized we had already seen it but couldn't help watching it again. It was just incredible. It takes a lot to get me to a sobbing point during a movie and this movie had me within a couple minutes! My prayer is that I will one day be able to rescue one of these precious little girls and teach them of the Saviour. What a privilege!!!

The many faces of the children - the laughter when the camera was on them, the fear of the unknown 'foreigner', the terror of being passed off to a stranger who (ironically) is now 'mommy', and the joy of a child who is loved and cared for and a part of a family...

What an incredible picture of God's love for us! We were nothing and He chose to rescue us, to save us. We had nothing to offer Him, nothing He needed, and He saved us. O the mystery!

One day...?

Psalm 139:13-16,
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them."

03 Civic, baby!

Here she is - in all her glory...the car, not me! ; )

Miscellaneous Musings

Well, a lot has happened since I last posted...and then again, not so much has happened at all!

My big news is...I finally got a car!!! Yes, it's true. I said goodbye to my baby of 8 years (very, very sad) and my first car ever. Then, God blessed me with a beautiful 03 Civic (picture coming soon?)! I love it and am so excited! I actually freaked out when I saw dust on the dashboard this morning!!! *gasp* ...and reality sets in! :)

Oh, I am supposedly going to be playing on the upcoming Metro Worship Project (Title TBD)! We had our first strings rehearsal last Sunday. It was quite interesting since every other string player was a veteran (at least in my book!) and can play so much better than me. One girl is only 17 but has been playing for 8 years and was giving suggestions and input to Steve Cook and Todd!!! Yeah, definitely don’t know anything like that. It took me a couple of days to realize that I didn’t even know one of the keys we were playing in…duh! No wonder it was so hard for me!  I did have fun and it’s nice to play with other string instruments. Right now there are four other violins and two cellos, with the possibility of adding two more violins. So we should have some strong sounds!! I’m excited about it, but can’t believe I’ve jumped off the porch to run with the big dogs, so to speak! I think the project is due out in the spring sometime, after a Live Recording on February 2nd (yay, I got the advertisement in for it! ). So, more to come on that, I guess…

So I was wondering last night as I drove over lots of really, really big bridges if I was going to make it. I did. I wasn't scared exactly, just in awe of my smallness on the huge expanse of water and how God is totally Sovereign because there's not much between me and the water!

And I was wondering at the way a baby recognizes a happy voice and responds with a smile....and why Cade's drool happened to land in my open mouth of all places! He’s so adorable and funny and takes after his Auntie Jenn…somehow.

So, I had a birthday on Thursday and am now very old as Lindsay kindly reminded me. I had a great time with a bunch of friends at Mimi's Cafe and had celebrated with my family the night before.

What else....Book I'm currently reading (and hope to finish today!): Trusting God. Excellent book! Music I'm currently listening to (which is literally, currently, since I haven't had a car to listen to music to for about three weeks!): Valley of Vision (can they get any better?!) and Selah's Greatest Hymns CD.

Hm…well, I’ll try to get pics up soon. Leave a comment if you stop by and say ‘hi’.

Got it!

Oh, and I can title my posts, too! Ooh, this is fun! Okay, g2g now!

Well, at Andrea's request, I am posting once more. The only thing I can think of is to recommend my fav blogs. :) So here they are:
www.girltalk.blogs.com
www.solofemininity.blogs.com

And of course I have to promo my absolute fav website of all:
www.xtreme-online.org :) Rock on Xtreme!!!

And, since my life revolves around SGM and their conferencing right now, I love:
www.newattitude.org ...one word of caution. Do not print www.na.org in your bulletin. You'll have an awful lot of people trying to register for a twelve step program...

Well, I think that's it for now...hey, this was fun! I don't mind talking to myself...cuz who reads this but me?!?!
